Original Mayr Medical Resort.
Park Igls — the most clinically traditional Mayr operator and the resort that markets itself as the original home of Modern Mayr Medicine. Alpine forest setting at ~870m above Innsbruck, ~80 rooms, an unembellished medical clinic with a hotel attached.
Programmes offered.
Park Igls offers the Original Modern Mayr Cure across stays of 7, 14, or 21 nights. Specialist programmes layer focus areas onto the core methodology — chronic disease management and post-illness recovery feature more prominently than at MAYRLIFE or VIVAMAYR.
Mayr Medicine Classic
The foundational Park Igls programme and the most authentic version of the Modern Mayr Cure. Comprehensive intake examination, daily manual abdominal treatment, therapeutic alkaline nutrition with assigned diet stage, daily kneipp hydrotherapy, basic diagnostic blood panel, and weekly programme adjustments. The longer 14- or 21-night versions add deeper diagnostic work and progressive nutrition stage transitions.
Active Longevity
The Classic Cure intensified with longevity diagnostics — biological age testing, telomere length, microbiome analysis, comprehensive hormonal panel — and a more active daily schedule including mountain walking, alpine fitness sessions, and outdoor breathwork. Designed for guests in good baseline health who want optimisation rather than recovery.
Stress & Burnout Recovery
Specifically for guests in advanced burnout or chronic stress states. Extended duration (Park Igls strongly recommends 14+ nights for genuine recovery), HRV-led pacing, neural therapy, psychotherapy or coaching sessions, restorative bodywork, and a deliberate reduction in physical exertion. The clinic's most popular specialist programme.
IBS & Gut Health
Park Igls' deepest specialist focus area, drawing on the clinic's gastroenterology expertise. Comprehensive gut microbiome and food intolerance testing, intensive abdominal therapy, FODMAP-aware therapeutic nutrition, and gastroenterologist consultations. Genuine clinical-tier IBS management — Park Igls is one of the few destinations where guests with diagnosed IBS will be treated under specialist medical supervision.
Post-Cancer Recovery
A medical recovery programme for guests in post-treatment cancer remission. Coordinated with the guest's oncology team, the programme covers gentle metabolic restoration, immune support, anti-inflammatory nutrition, gut microbiome reset (post-chemotherapy disruption is significant), and graduated movement. Park Igls is one of the few European clinical destinations that takes this category of guest seriously and operates with appropriate medical caution.
Weight Management
Mayr-based metabolic reset combined with body composition analysis, metabolic rate measurement, glucose tolerance testing, and a structured post-stay nutrition coaching plan. Park Igls' approach is conservative — the goal is sustainable metabolic health and gut reset, not rapid weight loss; longer stays (14+ nights) are explicitly recommended over short interventions.

Summary & comparison to The Long Week. Park Igls is the most authentically clinical of the four Mayr competitors — described by Mayr practitioners themselves as the training ground for the methodology. The atmosphere is unembellished medical: clean, calm, patient-focused, without the spa-resort polish of MAYRLIFE or the lakeside design-forward feel of VIVAMAYR. Structurally analogous to The Long Week (seven nights residential, doctor-led intake, daily clinical treatment, therapeutic nutrition, take-home protocol). At ~£6,000–£8,000, Park Igls is closer to our pricing than the other Mayr competitors but still 1.2–1.6× our £4,995 all-in. The philosophical split is the same — Mayr versus Ayurvedic, restriction versus abundance. For a UK guest, Jersey is a one-hour flight versus 3h to Innsbruck.
Inspiration for The Long Hotel. Three Park Igls elements worth borrowing. First, the clinically serious atmosphere — Park Igls deliberately doesn't try to feel like a luxury hotel. The rooms are calm and clean, the public spaces are purposeful, the medical wing is foregrounded rather than hidden. There is a lesson here about the danger of over-spa-ing the proposition. The Long Hotel should ensure our clinical credibility is visible — Dr Kerur's consulting room, the Medilab equipment, the clinical reception — rather than positioning the medical layer as something to disguise. Second, the specialist medical tracks for serious conditions (post-cancer recovery, IBS, advanced burnout). Park Igls has built credibility by accepting guests other clinics shy away from, with appropriate medical protocols. Long Hotel should consider building one or two specialist tracks (post-illness recovery; advanced burnout) where we can claim specific clinical depth, again with appropriate scope — these expand our addressable demographic into genuinely under-served segments. Third, the longer-stay default for serious work — Park Igls strongly recommends 14+ nights for burnout, post-illness, and specialist programmes. The Long View at 21 days already exists in our line; we should consider explicitly recommending 14-night Long Pause stays for guests with specific clinical concerns rather than defaulting to the 7-night Long Week.
